Passports & Identity Documents:
No mare can be accepted without a Breed Society Passport or Identity Document. DEFRA requires that this must accompany the mare to the Stud. 

Equine Flu and Tetanus Toxoid Certificates: 
No mares will be allowed on to the stud without a valid, up to date Certificate proving the mare has had the 2 vaccinations of the Primary Vaccination, the 2nd being given no less than 21days and no more than 92 days after the initial vaccination. A 6 month booster must have been given no less than 150 and no more than 215 days after the 2nds injection of the Primary Vaccination. Annual boosters must then be given no more than 365 days after the 6 month booster. It is also recommended that mares are vaccinated against Equine Herpes Virus. 
Please make sure Mares are vaccinated and up to date prior to arriving at stud - if mares require a booster jab whilst at the stud, or restarting. A handling fee will be charged to the mare owner. 

CEM Swabs: 
All mares must have a Current Annual Veterinary Certificate stating the mare has been swab tested and is free from infection (including Contagious Equine Metritis) and is fit for breeding prior to arrival at the stud. 

EVA Blood Test: 
All mares must have a Veterinary Certificate stating the mare has been blood tested and free from Equine Viral Arteritis and EIA Equine Infectious Anaemia. All of our stallions are blood tested for EVA & EIA. 

Mares at the stud will receive every possible care, attention and supervision, but no responsibility can be taken for any accident or disease. Veterinary assistance will be called in when deemed necessary and will be chargeable to the owner. 

All mares are served at their owner’s risk and no responsibility can be accepted for injury, damage or loss caused through trying or serving any mare. If in the best interests of the mare and / or the stallion, Albarosa Stud reserves the right to artificially inseminate any mare. Insemination will only be performed by a qualified trained person.

Veterinary intervention:
Any veterinary intervention whilst based at the stud will be carried out by a vet from Malton Equine LTD. It is advised prior to arrival that an account is made with them, any veterinary bills acquired whilst at the stud will be billed by the Equine clinic and is therefore payable to the clinic. 
The stud holds the right whilst any horse is held on the premises to have the vet attend to them at any point. Owners will be informed where possible prior to intervention of non routine breeding issues or concerns, and will be billed appropriately,

Ultrasound Scanning: 
Mares may be scanned in order to determine oestrous condition and pregnancy. Scanning will be performed by a veterinary surgeon. Sedation may be required for scanning, it is down to the decision of the attending veterinary surgeon and the stud manager as to whether each individual mare requires sedation. If the mare owners require notification of sedation prior to sedation being given, and the stud manager cannot reach the mare owner. The scan may not be able to be carried out for the safety of the mare and the attending veterinary surgeon. Please note - in this instance, the Veterinary practice and stud cannot be held responsible for any delay in mares insemination, or any extra cycles that may be required. The mare owner will be billed appropriately.

Covering Certificates:
Covering certificates will be sent via recorded delivery at the end of each stud season via recorded delivery if the mare was heartbeat scanned here at the stud. If the mare leaves the stud prior to heartbeat scan, or is inseminated through chilled semen or fresh semen at another facility, proof of a heartbeat scan is required in the form of a signed veterinary report. Albarosa stud may withhold the covering certificates in the event that livery bills are left unpaid. In the case of covering certificates being misplaced or lost, a replacement one may be provided at a further charge of £20.

Keep of Mares: 
Mares will have the benefit of all pasture available to the stud. Mares may be kept stabled if requested or required. The Stud has a right to feed or stable grass kept mares as they consider most beneficial to the care of the mare and / or foal if the weather changes for the worse, and the owners will be charged accordingly. Keep Fees may be raised if a mare is not removed within a reasonable period after the owner has been notified that she is ready for collection. 

Damages fees will be charged to mare owners for any damages caused by their mares. This is up to the discretion of the stud and is payable prior to the collection of the mares. The stud hold the rights to request for mares to be taken home early if damages are deemed to be too high or expensive.

Stud Fee & Grooms Fee: 
Are due on arrival of the mare. Keep Fees will be invoiced monthly, to be paid within 14 days of each invoice and at collection of the mare. Visiting mares and / or foals may not be removed until all Stud Fees and Keep Fees have been paid in full. If the Stud shall give notice that a visiting mare and / or foal should be removed from the stud for any reason whatsoever and the owner shall fail to do so within the date of such notice, then the stud shall be entitled to sell the visiting mare and / or foal and out of the proceeds of sale defray the cost of the Stud Fees, Keep Fees and livery for the period between the giving of notice and the sale of the mare and / or foal and the owner hereby appoints the Stud its agent for the purpose of such sale. 

Shoes: 
It is requested that all mares should be sent recently attended to by the Farrier and without hind shoes. Mares will be treated by our Farrier when deemed necessary and will be invoiced to the owner by the stud alongside their livery bill - please note if mares require their feet to be attended to within 5 weeks of arrival at the stud for a routine trim, a handling fee will be charged on top of the farriers fees. 

Headcollars and Tack: 
It is requested that your mare be sent with a well fitting head-collar, leather if possible, and any rugs should be clearly marked with the mare’s name. Whilst the stud will take every care of any equipment left with the mare it cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage. 

Worming
 All mares will be wormed on arrival, owners will be charged £16.00 unless a wormer is provided. Please check first as to which type of wormer is suggested depending on the time of year.

Phonecalls/messages: 
Progress - Owners are requested to telephone between 2.00pm and 5.30pm to find out the progress of their mare. 

Mare owners will be messaged once per week with an update on how there mare is getting on. If you require further information or would like to check up on your mare, please feel free to contact us. Phone Calls/messages between 7pm and 8am may not be answered instantaneously, however a response will be sent as soon as we can. 

NO FOAL 1st October: 
The boys terms are NFFR for fresh or chilled semen - up to 12 months from the first dose of semen being inseminated.
Briarwood Revolutions terms - 2 straws minimum per dose and 4 straws maximum, up to 3 breeding doses are available to 1 named mare, these straws are sold without terms. Straws are priced individually. 

If a mare is certified not in foal from fresh or chilled semen by 1st October in the covering year, on the first attempt that season, 75% of the stud fee will be returned, after the second attempt, 40% of the stud fee shall be returned, on the 3rd or more attempt, no fee shall be returned, however the mare can return the following season up to 12 months from the first dose being shipped out.

Visitors are welcome by appointment, during normal working hours each Friday or Tuesday.

The stud and its employees do not take any responsibilities for any damages/ injuries or loss that may occur whilst either horses or humans are visiting the stud.
